Australia: There is something great about buying a plant, taking care of it and making it survive for more years. So imagine the shock that a woman must have felt when she realized that a plant she had been caring for and had been watering for two years was actually plastic.
Caelie Wilkes shared her story on her Facebook page, where she wrote: “I’ve had this lovely succulent for about two years. I was very proud of this plant. It was a full, beautiful color, just a perfect plant in general. I had it in the window of my kitchen. I had an irrigation plan for this, if someone else tried to water my succulent, I would be very defensive because I just wanted to take good care of it. I really loved my succulent.”
Unfortunately, when she decided to transplant the plant into a new vase, she made a surprising discovery.
“I will take it out of the original plastic container with which it was purchased to discover that this plant was fake,” she wrote. “I put so much love into this plant! I washed its leaves. Tried my hardest to keep it looking its best, and it’s completely plastic! How did I not know this? I pull it from the container it’s sitting on Styrofoam with sand glued to the top!”
Wilkes, a mother who stays at home, shared photos of the plant, which looks real from above. Once out of the container, however, it is clearly not alive.
“I feel like these last two years have been a lie,” Wilkes concluded with sadness.
Check your plants too, you may be in the same case! hahaha…
